While Gamma Sigma Sigma is centered around service, members also like to have fun. Through Gamma Sigma Sigma, members form lifelong friendships and develop bonds of sisterhood that will last a lifetime.
Every fall, Gamma Kappa participates in the University of Tennessee's Homecoming activities. At UT, Homecoming is a week long competition between organizations on campus in a variety of events. This past fall, Gamma Kappa teamed up with the brothers of Beta Theta Pi and placed first in lawn display and second in soapbox derby.
Retreat and Gamma Kappa Day
Later in the spring when it warms up some, our chapter celebrates Gamma Kappa Day. This special day celebrates the founding of our chapter. The event is usually a picnic in the park and gives members a chance to bond as a sorority.
Gamma Kappa also has a yearly Sisterhood Retreat. Sisters head up to the mountains of nearby Gatlinburg for a weekend of fun, food, and sisterhood.
Formal, Mixers, and Date Parties
Gamma Kappa members enjoy mixers with fraternities, date parties, and a formal at the end of each semester. Some of the past social themes have been Barbie & G.I. Joe, Secs and Execs, Two of a Kind, Rockstars, and Jimmy Buffet. Each semester we have a formal full of dancing and fun. Past locations include the Sunsphere, the Volunteer Princess Boat, the Crescent Bend House, and Remedy Coffee House.
Last fall, we had a bowling mixer with Phi Mu Alpha at Maple Hall Since then we have also partnered with them for Homecoming.
